Reading it honestly
Mobile scores are almost always lower than desktop. That is normal and not a sign anything is wrong — the test simulates a slower device on a slower connection.
Chasing 100 is rarely worth it. Moving a poor score up to a reasonable one is; the last few points usually cost more than they return.
What tends to help
- Images. Almost always the biggest single win. Photographs straight from a phone or camera are far larger than a web page needs.
- Fewer plugins. Each one adds something to load.
- Caching on. See Why your change has not appeared yet.
- A lighter theme. Some themes are simply heavy.
